Today's autoresponders need to be careful to not generate e-mail backscatter, which can result in the autoresponses being considered E-mail spam. They can be very simple or quite complex. Autoresponders are also incorporated into electronic mailing list software, to confirm subscriptions, unsubscriptions, posts, and other list activities. The customer pays a monthly usage fee.
Internet service providers who forward complaints to the spamming party are often seen as assisting the spammer in list washing, or, in short, helping spammers.
For some organizations, such as specialized niche publications or charitable groups, their lists may be some of their most valuable assets, and mailing list brokers help them maximize the value of their lists.
The key advantage of a mailing list over a things such as web-based discussion is that as new message becomes available they are immediately delivered to the participants' mailboxes. When similar or identical material is sent out to all subscribers on a mailing list, it is often referred to as a mailshot or blast. If rented, the renter agrees to use the mailing list for only contractually agreed-upon times.
Whats more, they come cheap, so cheap that anyone can afford to use them.

Direct Sales and Affiliate networks have felt the need time and againfor autoresponders. Not having autoresponders is like leaving money on tghe table. Online, people are click savvy. You just have a few seconds to capture the attention. Even then, most people do not buiy from a website on the first sight. They need time, and they forget in that time. Its a partt of your duty to remind them about the benefits and features of your products and services, which eventually results into sales.I hope you do not want to do that.
A word of caution here. Do not send any unsolicited emails to people on your list. This will kill your reputation, and people are never going to buy from you in that case. So dont even think about that. Besides, you also risk getting blacklisted on various servers, which means, the DEATH OF YOUR MARKETING CAREER.
